Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's parents moved to Louisiana in the early 1990s. Decker won a regional talent show performing a cover inspired by Patsy's I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart at the age of just nine. Decker has moved to Georgia at the age of was just 15. She had started to write songs, was making regular trips to Nashville and was visiting record companies and music publishers in search of bargains. When she was 17, she was 17 when a Big Yellow Dog Records representative saw her work and began to sell songs to labels as well as artists. Decker signed a deal with Island/Def Jam after Mercury Records' president David Massey passed her demos to L.A. Reid, head of Island/Def Jam. On August 9, 2009 she launched her self-titled debut album under the moniker Jessie James. Jessie James was reasonably successful as it featured Wanted one of her singles that hit into the Top 40 of the singles charts. Decker always thought of herself as a folk singer but the album's marketing and production was geared towards a more pop-oriented audience. Decker's music was under greater review after the release of two songs. The following track, Boys in the Summer was a country-inspired track. Decker's second album, announced with the name Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records, was canceled following Mercury saw the poor performance on three of her singles in the country charts.
